We live in a cyclical world. The earth is round, she spins on an axis and rotates around the sun. The Moon orbits around the Earth. As these circles spin about in space, they create cyclical patterns. The hours of the day turning to the darkness of night. The weather transitions as we tilt on our axis further or closer to the sun. The life cycle of a living being, the circle of life, mirrors these patterns (birth, life, death and the space before the rebirth). All of these cycles and rhythms beat to the same drum, the energetics all line up, so for us to be effective in anything we do or create we are wise to tune in to this natural order of things. Just as the seasons change so too do the cycles of life and creation.
If you’re looking to create something new or call in a new person or job into your life, you may find value in working with the rhythm of the Universe. We often try to call in new things when we feel ready for a change but before we have fully let go of the old thing or person that was filling that space in our lives. How can we expect to get new things without first clearing out the old? Where will this new thing go? If the closet is full, there is no space for one more item. It’s difficult to say goodbye to something without knowing what’s going to replace it, or IF anything or anyone will come along to fill its void. We fear the empty, believing it could possibly remain empty forever. So, we stay, we cling, we hold onto the old with all our might until we see the new thing to jump on over to. But this isn’t how Mother Nature works, it’s not a natural rhythm to hoard and wait to jump directly to the next thing. Our society has scared us into fearing the pause, fearing the clearing because we believe lack is a bad thing.
What if we could start to see the space for what it is; infinite potential. The seed that exists with all the energy and power of the soon to be plant, the acorn that has all the potential to become the mighty oak tree. It’s the negative charge of the magnet pulling in something new and positive. The hardest part about the pause is the not knowing. What’s going to come next? How can I be sure it will be better than what I had? How can I be sure it’s coming in the right timing I need it to? Not knowing is difficult and he often brings his friends anxiety and stress. But these are all self-imposed emotions. Working with the natural order takes trust. The Native Americans lived with the land and they were a happy and peaceful society. They believed that what they needed would be provided to them in Divine timing. “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.” Wise words, Universal concepts felt by people over different time periods but all saying the same thing. If you try a little, if you have faith in the natural order, you just might find that what you need will arrive when you need it.
SO, here’s the simple cycle I’ve come to know and love.
Birth, Spring, the 1st quarter moon, these are the initiating energies, the winds of change, a breath of fresh air, the beginning of something new.
Next comes Life, Summer, the Full Moon, sustaining energy, blazing fire, action, passion, the meat of the creation thrives here.
Then, Death, Autumn, the 3rd quarter moon, shifting and transferring energy, sparking change, water ebbing and flowing pulling the tide back out, clearing space and making room.
Last, but certainly not the least important phase is The Space of endless possibility, Winter, the New Moon, the earth energy, keeping us grounded and connected to the cycles of the Universe. It is here that we must sit for an unknown amount of time. We connect and recharge. Fully thanking, releasing and letting go of the old, acknowledging the void we’ve created and celebrating the beauty of the open real estate that’s become available for something new to be born.
Here’s your challenge. Sit in the space and feel the beauty of this natural rhythm, trust the process and know that all you need will arrive in time, exactly when you need it, but not necessarily when you want it. We must work on eliminating the fear of the release, the fear that we can’t let go or move on before the new thing arrives and proves to us it’s better. Because here’s the thing, right now you already know that what you currently have no longer works, you can feel it, it’s frustrating, you fight with it or feel energy drain from you because of this thing. So, no matter what comes next, you still ultimately know that this part is over, it’s lived its life cycle for you, gone through spring, summer and now autumn but you fear the leap into the winter because it seems so dark, cold, lonely and uncertain. Don’t fear the absence, Embrace the space!
This is a natural progression and we must normalize it once again. We value productivity and action in today’s world so we have pushed aside anything that represents the yin, the rest, the recovery the slowing down portion of life, but we need this yin side to make the yang sustainable and productive. If we keep going, keep pulling in more without balancing out the energy we create imbalance, dis-harmony, diss-ease and we get burnt out, overwhelmed and stressed. I believe life is about finding your own personal harmony on a daily basis to create inner peace as you connect to and help others. This is easiest to achieve when you work with the natural cycles of the Universe, not against them. Think about how much easier it is to ride your bike with the wind at your back or work with the force of gravity to lower things down versus lifting them up against gravity. The Universe operates under certain laws, rules, principles, and cycles. The more we work within this Divine sequence the easier life on this planet feels.
Don’t just take my word for it, check in with the Earth. Animals graze with their herd and as they see the land depleted from their actions, they leave seeking another area to graze. Allowing the Earth time to re-grow in this location to which they may one day return. Moving on without knowing exactly where they’re going next but understanding it is time to go. This is the principle of auditioning for the role. It is from this empty space that we have created a need. And when there’s a need, the Universe will send in some new options ready to audition for the open position. Now you not only have something new to fill the void but you have options, you get to choose the best fit for the new version of you. We are always changing, ever evolving beings and our environments reflect this change. Never believe in the scarcity and lack, because that is placed here to keep you thinking small, to create a society where we trap ourselves through fear and doubt. Open your eyes to the truth. Allow change to be a welcome gift to accompany your positive growth towards a more joyous and abundant you.
Don’t fear the absence, Embrace the Space!
