The physical body is tangible, we can touch, feel, see and interact with it. When we are sick, we believe it to be solely an ailment of the physical body because our mind can understand what it can see, touch or quantify. It’s easier for us to digest things when we can understand it from all angles. The problem is, that our human bodies are made of more than just the physical body. The designated counterparts to the physical, tangible and obvious are the emotional, sensational and subtle. The physical body cannot exist without the emotional body. They work together in harmony, Yang and Yin.
It’s difficult for us to prioritize the emotional body because we cannot see it, we must feel it. This requires an inner guidance, a connection to our intuition to know when the emotional body is “sick” or out of harmony. And like any counterpart, harmony and balance is required to see positive results with either piece of the polarity.
This means, that your physical body ailment (don’t kid yourself, you have at least one at this very moment) is inherently tied to your emotional body disharmony.
I’m going to repeat that: You cannot achieve sustainable, long-term physical results without addressing the emotional component associated with the diss-ease.
I’m going to put this in super obvious terms. How many times have you tried to lose weight? You diet, exercise and see results but inevitably, something happens and you’re back to your old habits and the weight returns? Or, how many times do we have to see our loved ones “beat cancer” only to hear the news years later “It’s back.” Sure, we can battle things, fight and claw as much as we’d like. We are resilient beings, but the issues are arising for a reason. They are coming from some form of diss-ease and discovering the root cause is the only way to stop the pattern and change it permanently.
I know it’s tough to hear that you are a leading factor in your illness or imbalance but I choose to see it as liberating. If I can play a role in the onset and growth of a diss-ease then conversely, I have the power to STOP it permanently.
Finding the harmony between the physical and emotional bodies is the key. Yes, medicine, food, diets, exercise and physical changes are important and necessary but they aren’t the only piece. We must spend time with our emotional bodies. It’s uncomfortable for some as we were never taught about this part of ourselves. We were never taught that we need to find the best way to complete an emotion so it doesn’t get trapped in our bodies. We weren’t taught that our mental health is just as important as our physical. If we aren’t happy in our heads how can we be happy anywhere? You can’t go somewhere without your head!
Learning to feel and understand what I feel, what that means for me and what to do with it has been a big journey for me. It’s going to be a lifelong journey but I’m much happier now that I recognize this, now that I can see and feel what my emotional body does to my overall health and well-being.
I encourage you to take a look into your emotional body. Spend some quiet time alone, meditate, journal or just feel (let it out, cry, scream). Get an understanding of how you process emotions and start digging around in those messy, unorganized closets. See what’s hanging around that no longer needs to be stored. Set up new understandings and ways of moving through emotions. Stagnation is the leading cause of diss-ease, so get moving. Move your physical body every day and move your emotions through you. Keep moving forward. Never fear leaving things behind. We must clear out and create space so new things may enter. You can choose to leave your emotional body as a ten-car pile-up or you can sweep it all away and travel down a clear road full of new possibilities. The choice is yours.
