New Moon’s take place when the moon is positioned directly in between the earth & the sun, revealing only the shadow side of the moon to us, making it seem invisible. The dark of the moon asks us to slow down, find pockets of quiet to review our last cycle so we can be clear & ready for the brand new one ahead. This moon phase is associated with the Winter phase, menstruation. Our bodies ask us to slow down & acknowledge our shadow sides in order to transmute trapped energies & make room for new emotions to be stored next month. It’s important to take time for yourself each New Moon, practicing at least one form of self-care & checking in on your inner world.
Today’s New Moon is occurring in the sign of communication, Gemini. This means an influx of information will be pouring in, possibly an overwhelming amount. The key is to stay grounded & process the information & emotions as they come. Connect to earth, take walks outside & use that time to remember what is important, remember what your goals & intentions are for the next cycle or even the rest of the year. When you can be clear on your intentions you’ll be able to weed through the information overload & take what you need & leave the rest.
If you don’t take the time to remain grounded, and your head is up in the clouds with no clear path, then you will feel the full overwhelming effects of uncertainty, which is a very dense energy to carry. Since Gemini is about communication, you can shed some of this burden by sharing your thoughts & struggles at this time with close friends.
With summer around the corner, this Gemini season will have us feeling like a brand new butterfly just out of the cocoon, eager to see friends & socialize. It’s a great time to reach out to people with whom you’ve lost touch, catching up, connecting & remembering to allow space for the deeper conversations that may have been put on hold during quarantine.
Positive vibes of this sign leads us toward excitement for the new world ahead as things begin to open up. Flirtation arises as we come out of our homes, out of our shells & we’re reborn from this New Moon into the next, higher version of ourselves. Our deprivation from human touch over the past months will ignite potent energies to playfully connect with old friends & new strangers. Coupled with the curious nature of Gemini, we will be inclined to meet new people & unravel their secrets. An intellectual sign, we will be craving deeper connections & real conversations, topics that can fuel our curious minds & ignite the fire to take action towards our New Moon intentions.
Shadow sides of this sign can cause confusion, anxiety & be overwhelming. With an influx of information & a new way of living in society, it can feel overwhelming to process all of the changes. With a lack of direction for your own future in the new normal, you can easily be swept into an anxiety tornado, wreaking havoc on all aspects of your daily life. Don’t get sucked in to this energy, instead find one thing to focus on. Things never seem so overwhelming when you isolate them & take it one step at a time. Making plans for direct action towards your goals in a realistic & tangible way will calm your worries & flip your view of a situation. Making changes in your life to adjust to the new normal will come easily if you tackle them one at a time. Change doesn’t happen over night, so don’t set yourself up for failure by creating unrealistic goals & expectations.
Gemini rules the respiratory system &nervous system, two systems that can certainly use some love & attention right now. Focusing on building up your immune system & clearing out your lungs will set you up for a healthy rest of 2020. Incorporating breathing techniques to control your nerves will be a powerful tool in navigating any uncertainty in your life. Also a ruler of the arms & hands, Gemini will have you feeling the desire to reach out (physically & emotionally) to those around you, strengthening your connections & communicating with others in your own unique way.
As always, I suggest taking time to listen to your body. This is a phase to replenish & re-nourish yourself. This last Moon Cycle took a lot out of us as a society. It tested our limits & asked us to tackle some inner demons we’ve ignored through the guise that we were too busy. As we say goodbye to the old daily routine we must look ahead with a positive mindset that it’s ok that things are never going to “go back to normal,” because normal really wasn’t that great anyway.
Set intentions, take time for yourself & open yourself up to the abundant possibilities that this new world has for us all.
Happy Healing!
